Technical Activity Report
December 2025
December 2025 delivered three major technical initiatives: (1) full governance features in Unicove including block producer voting and proposal management, (2) WharfKit session key implementation enabling automatic local signing for high-frequency transaction use cases, and (3) continued Roborovski v2 development as blockchain API infrastructure. Additional work included Web Authenticator backup enhancements, VF transition proposal document updates, and new developer tooling repositories.
Key Achievements:
- Implemented block producer voting with vote decay calculations and Int64 overflow protection in Unicove
- Deployed session key infrastructure across WharfKit session, web-renderer, and signing-request packages (v2.0.0-rc4)
- Advanced Roborovski v2 with slice indexing, canonical filtering, and get_activity API
- Rebuilt Web Authenticator backup system with master public key storage and QR-based mobile sharing
- Progressed VF transition proposals from v7 to v9
- Created 3 new repositories for developer tooling and support infrastructure
Technical Significance: December established production-ready governance infrastructure building on November’s multisig foundation. The session key implementation represents a major WharfKit evolution enabling gaming and high-frequency dapp use cases without wallet prompt fatigue. Roborovski v2 development advanced the API infrastructure that powers specialized services like msigs, sentiment polling, and Totems (modular tokens), in addition to filtered history queries. The governance features and session keys directly address user experience friction in blockchain interactions.

Cross-Repository Insights
WharfKit Session Key Ecosystem
Integration: Coordinated session key implementation across session core, web-renderer UI, and dependent packages enabling automatic local signing.
How It Works:
- wharfkit/session implements core session key logic including key generation, storage, and authorization resolution (PR #101)
- wharfkit/web-renderer provides UI components for session key setup and management with login plugin approach
- wharfkit/signing-request updated to support session key authorization handling (v3.3.0)
- Coordinated release candidates: session v2.0.0-rc3/rc4, web-renderer v2.0.0-rc2 through rc5
Technical Decisions:
- Session key wallet hidden from wallet plugin picker to avoid confusion
- Login plugin pattern used for session key setup rather than automatic setup
- Placeholder authorizations resolve differently based on session key presence
- Session persistence maintained even when wallet disabled
Strategic Impact: Session keys enable gaming and high-frequency transaction applications to sign specific actions locally without wallet prompts. This removes a major UX barrier for blockchain games where constant approval dialogs disrupt gameplay. The coordinated release across packages ensures consistent behavior.
Roborovski v2 Full-Stack Development
Integration: Parallel development of Go-based API infrastructure (greymass/robo2-temp) and TypeScript client library (wharfkit/roborovski). Roborovski provides indexed chain data access that powers specialized APIs like msigs, sentiment polling, and Totems (modular tokens), in addition to filtered history queries.
How It Works:
- robo2-temp develops core services: historywriter (block indexer), accounthistory (get_activity API), chainstats, transactions
- wharfkit/roborovski v2 branch implements TypeScript client for get_activity endpoint
- Shared data format enables clients to request filtered, paginated account activity
- Cursor-based pagination supports efficient scrolling through history
Previous Context: See November 2025 for initial filtered history prototype work.
Technical Benefit: Applications can build specialized APIs on top of Roborovski infrastructure rather than processing raw chain data. Slice-based storage with index caching enables fast lookups. Canonical filtering excludes forked actions from results. The goal is to release this as open-source infrastructure others in the ecosystem can build on.
Governance Stack Completion
Integration: December completed the governance feature set in Unicove, building on November’s multisig infrastructure.
How It Works:
- Block producer voting page with vote decay calculations and stake-weight display
- Proposal management integrating with Roborovski msig indexer (from November 2025)
- Search plugin architecture enabling msig search by proposal name
- Sentiment voting continued from November with account and msig sentiment features
Previous Context: See November 2025 for msigs.io and Roborovski msig indexer foundation.
Technical Decisions:
- Vote weight clamping applied to prevent Int64 overflow on high-precision networks (WAX)
- Search refactored to plugin architecture for extensibility
- Proposal data loaded in parallel for performance
- Infinite scroll pattern for proposal pagination

Overview
December focused on governance feature completion with block producer voting, proposal management enhancements, and search improvements. The producer voting implementation required solving vote weight calculation issues across different network configurations.
Pull Requests
Major Changes
#550 - Governance + Producers (link)
Merged: 2025-12-04
Description: Initial implementation of governance and block producer voting pages. Introduces producer listing with vote weights, voting interface with checkbox selection, and integration with network producer data.
Related Commits:
#556 - Producers Bugfix (link)
Merged: 2025-12-18
Description: Fixed integer overflow bugs in block producer vote weight calculations.
Discussion (7 comments):
- Challenge: Vote decay parameter incorrect, causing inaccurate vote totals. Int64 overflow errors on networks with high-precision vote weights.
- Solution: Applied vote weight clamping to prevent overflow, corrected decay calculations, verified across network configurations.
Impact: Fixes critical calculation errors that would show incorrect producer rankings on networks like WAX.
#553 - Better Search Errors (link)
Merged: 2025-12-17
Description: Improved user experience when searching for resources that don’t exist. Application maintains layout during search errors, making typo recovery less jarring.
Discussion (3 comments):
- Code review identified stray console.log to remove before merge.
#547 - Sentiment Styles (link)
Merged: 2025-12-01
Discussion (6 comments):
- Topic: Optimistic UI behavior for sentiment voting
- Decision: Optimistic state applies AFTER transaction broadcast (anticipating block inclusion), not on button click. Prevents incorrect state display when transactions cancelled or fail.
Minor Changes
